At the Uljanik shipyard in Pula, the bulk carrier Valovine has been launched, which is being built by Uljanik’s shipyard for the company Uljanik Finance, a member of the ULJANIK Group.
This company is intended for the construction of ships for its own fleet during a period of low global market intensity and lower newbuilding prices.
- By building this ship, Uljanik maintains the continuity of employment for its own production capacities and workers at a time when recovery is slowly becoming visible, but there has still been no significant shift in the shipbuilding market – emphasized Eduard Milovan, director of the Uljanik shipyard group, at today’s launch ceremony.
The Valovine ship has a capacity of 52,000 tons, is 189.9 meters long and 32.24 meters wide, and will be powered by a Uljanik MAN engine with a power of 8,600 kW, allowing the ship to achieve a speed of about 15 knots.
The contract for the construction of this ship was signed in June 2010, and the keel was laid at the end of 2011.
