Ostojić Opens the Forum of Official Journals of Europe

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ranko Ostojić today opened the 10th Forum of Official Journals of Europe. The ceremonial gathering, which takes place over three days in Zagreb, includes all publishers of European official journals. On behalf of the host, the official gazette of the Republic of Croatia, Narodne novine, the President of the Management Board of NN, Petar Piskač, addressed the assembly at the beginning.

He briefly presented the long history of Narodne novine, which is the successor to the publication initiated by Ljudevit Gaj in 1835. Under the name Narodne novine, it has existed since 1861. Minister Ostojić stated that the purpose of the forum is to exchange experiences and new trends.

The forum gathers all official journals of the member states of the European Union, as well as candidate countries (Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, and Turkey), potential candidates (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania), and EFTA members (Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Iceland, and Norway).

This is the tenth forum, while the first was held before 2003 in Vienna. The forum brings together all members to exchange ideas and practices, enhance mutual cooperation, and establish common goals so that all users have uniform access to information regardless of linguistic differences and legal systems.

The administration of the forum is led by the official journal of the European Union in Luxembourg. This year, the presidency of the forum is taken over by the Republic of Croatia, i.e., the official journal Narodne novine. Croatia, as a new EU member, has been given the opportunity to organize this jubilee gathering.

Among the speakers at the gathering, along with numerous representatives from various EU countries, will be Branko Hrvatin, President of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia, and Zdenka Pogarčić, Director of the Office for Legislation of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and Editor-in-Chief of Narodne novine.
