Miljenić: Our Reputation is Better Than Ever

– Our position, apart from this deadline, remains the same; there are no losers or winners here – said Minister of Justice Orsat Miljenić in the HRT News regarding the agreement between the Government and Brussels, according to which the European Arrest Warrant will apply to crimes committed before 2002 starting from January 1, 2014.

– Our reputation is not tarnished because we value those who know what they want and know how to fight for it – Miljenić is convinced, who met today with Viviane Reding.
A whole range of issues will thus be successfully resolved, claims the minister, emphasizing that we have gone through ‘a very good thing as equals’.

– It could have been different; there was no need for verbal escalation – says Miljenić, who believes that our reputation is ‘better than ever’.

If Merkel sends a request for the extradition of Perković, that will be decided by the court, and Miljenić refuses to comment on ‘individual cases’.
– This one contentious point regarding the deadline will be harmonized, but we are changing the Constitution for ourselves – concluded Miljenić.

– We have opened a question that no one wanted to deal with for 20 years. This situation has precisely brought about that – our confrontation with crimes. I am convinced that the Constitution will be changed immediately, as I cannot imagine anyone in the Croatian Parliament voting against prosecuting, for example, a child murderer – the minister stated.

‘Lex Perković’ will be amended by the Government at tomorrow’s session.
