After eight months of construction work, last Friday Gebrüder Weiss officially launched its logistics facility in the Georgian capital Tbilisi. The new business location of GW is expected to stand out as a hub between Europe and Southwest Asia.
“With this branch, we provide our clients with better access to the rapidly growing markets of the East,” explains Wolfram Senger-Weiss, a member of the management board of Gebrüder Weiss during the grand opening. “Moreover, we can offer a full range of services in Georgia, as well as in the Caucasus region, in accordance with Western quality standards.” The local portfolio includes road, air, and sea transport, logistics solutions, and various projects.
The terminal has over 10,500 m² of transshipment and logistics space, as well as 600 m² of office space. The entire area, with its 95,000 m², offers numerous development opportunities. The center is located in close proximity to the airport and features direct connections to important traffic routes around the Georgian capital. In the future, a connection to the railway network currently being built by the Georgian government across the country is also planned.
“Thanks to its good connectivity, Tbilisi is a perfect hub for traffic between the West and the East,” explains Thomas Moser, regional manager of the Southeast/CIS department of Gebrüder Weiss.
Currently, Gebrüder Weiss employs 50 people at the new terminal. There are plans to increase this to 80 employees.
