HDZ will announce its economic program when it suits them

The top of HDZ and the central bodies of the party gathered for a retreat in Veliko Trgovišće. Before it, the party president Tomislav Karamarko stated that this is about preparing the party for a hot political autumn, with an emphasis on the economy.

He announced that HDZ will publish its economic program when it suits them.

We have gathered because the season in the Parliament is starting, problems in the country are multiplying, and the situation is not easy at all. We want to mobilize party leaders, so that it goes capillary, all the way to the last member, Karamarko told reporters before the closed retreat.

He added that today there will be discussions about the political and economic situation, which will be addressed to the gathered HDZ members by members of the party’s economic team Domagoj Ivan Milošević and Martina Dalić.

Today there will be an analysis of the current situation and proposals for our responses to that situation, as well as proposals and recipes for how to pull this country out of a difficult economic situation. We will announce the economic program when it suits us, Karamarko stated.

He reiterated his support for early parliamentary elections. We will see what will happen, what the outcome of the ‘lex Perković’ case will be, what the sanctions will be. If sanctions occur, I believe that all of this accelerates this process, he said.

Karamarko believes that messages from Brussels should be taken seriously. He stated that Croatia should not ignore what it signed in the accession agreement. The way in which the creation of that law came about, after Germany ratified us, that during the time between ratification and entry into the EU a law like that was invented, is truly scandalous, he emphasized.

He reiterated that HDZ, if the Government withdraws the disputed law, is ready to support the SDP’s proposal for constitutional changes that would abolish the statute of limitations for politically motivated murders, but insists on a clear definition of such murders. If we are talking about changing the Constitution, then we are asking for clear definitions, but our package will be a bit broader, it will not be limited to just this, he added.

Karamarko also commented on the announcement of a strike by doctors and nurses. I think this is a consequence of this Government’s inability for social dialogue. We will see how this will look. I hear that healthcare workers are devising the rhythm and regime of their work and I just hope that no one will suffer because of this strike, or that they do not receive adequate healthcare, he said.
