Sources of Competitive Advantage in the 21st Century

Competitiveness is a word that initially denoted the positive incentive provided by competition.

Over time, it has taken on the connotation of exhaustion, the destruction of one side, a ruthless struggle devoid of human values with negative outcomes for all participants. The book by three authors emerged as a result of research into the positive aspects of strategic management. Being competitive and positive is not a paradox, but an imperative. Therefore, this book presents various sources of competitive advantage in the 21st century such as the art of strategy formulation, strategic thinking, leadership, knowledge and learning, trust, and management service…

Between 1928 and 1947, world traveler Mate Šimunović and his dog Globus covered 360,000 kilometers on foot, by bicycle, and in a small sailboat. In those 19 years, they visited 70 countries, on thousands of islands and islets in the Indian and Pacific Oceans, where they encountered indigenous people who had not yet been in contact with civilization. All of this is documented in his travel book, which has been signed by numerous statesmen and celebrities, in 26 diary notebooks, and in thousands of photographs. Mate undertook all of this completely alone, without the logistics we know today. Much was written about Mate and his travels in the 1950s, and then this greatest of all globetrotters was unjustly forgotten.

More than a quarter of a century ago, Claudio Magris published his epoch-making book ‘Danube’. Today it is a classic, a book that marked European literature at the end of the 20th century. Magris follows the river from its source to its mouth with unprecedented ease, dealing with history, nature, people – everything that makes human life interesting. Even today, in a new translation and new edition, reading ‘Danube’ is equally exciting and an extraordinary experience. The Danube is an undeniable classic of Italian and world literature, a book that lives and meanders, reflecting the rarely seen erudition of Claudio Magris and the impeccable poetic style of the best essayist of today.
