Data to Avoid in Your Resume

Every resume and every job advertisement is specific, so the application for the advertisement should always be tailored to the conditions of the competition, which often implies adjusting the resume as well. It is always good to follow the rule: provide brief and clear information about your achievements.

The portal Moj posao presents a list of things you can do without:

1) Your Expectations
What you expect from a (seasonal) job is generally known. Therefore, in your job application or resume summary, it is better to highlight your basic qualifications and skills – this will best convey to the employer whether you are the person they are looking for and what you can offer them.

2) Awards and Hobbies Unrelated to Work
It is always desirable to highlight the awards you have received or hobbies you have, but a hobby that requires similar skills to your job will always leave a better impression than a hobby that has nothing to do with what you do.
The employer wants precise information about how qualified the candidate is for the job and how much they work on developing their professional skills in their free time. Any unnecessary information distracts attention.

3) Poor Visual Impression
Stick to the golden rule that you can never go wrong with simplicity. Choose one type and size of font, and emphasize (in bold) only previous job positions.
Write in bullet points as they are clearer than full sentences or paragraphs. Use a spacing of one or one and a half lines, but not more or less than that.
A document that appears harmonious is pleasing to the eye and invites reading, without taking too much time (which is a significant advantage).

4) Job Description
Instead of spending time describing everything you have done, explain how you did it and why it was particularly beneficial to your former employer and guests/clients.
Achievements are what set you apart from other candidates.
