The President of Croatian Exporters (HIZ), Darinko Bago, met today in Zagreb with the Executive Director of CLECAT – the European Association for Freight Forwarding, Transport, Logistics and Customs, Nicolette van der Jagt. They discussed the prospects for joint cooperation, as HIZ became a full member of this European association following Croatia’s accession to the EU.
CLECAT’s membership includes, among others, 20 national organizations related to transport, forwarding, logistics, and customs. This means that CLECAT represents the interests of over 19,000 companies employing more than one million workers in logistics, forwarding, and customs services. It is impressive that European freight forwarders and customs agents handle about 95% of all goods trade in Europe, 65% of road freight, 95% of rail freight, and 65% of sea freight.
Croatian exporters have been members of CLECAT since 2005, as the only institution representing Croatia in this interest association.
