The Minister of Labor and Pension System, Mirando Mrsić, stated today that workers’ pensions are not a subject of budget stabilization as announced by Finance Minister Slavko Linić, and that all pensions not funded by contributions should follow the fate of the state budget.
“Pensions linked to contributions must be adjusted and must follow contributions, while all other pensions must share the fate of the state budget. When discussing reforms and savings on the expenditure side, we need to see what can be done,” said Mrsić after the GSV meeting. He responded to a journalist’s question about whether and by what percentage privileged pensions would be reduced.
Finance Minister Slavko Linić, in the afternoon, when asked whether state expenditures would be attempted to be reduced by cutting privileged pensions, stated that privileged pensions are something that citizens in Croatia believe should not exist.
“I start from the premise that privileged pensions are something that citizens in Croatia believe should not be, that we all need to be equal,” said Linić after the Government meeting.
