The Croatian Government, in search of the much-desired investments, has resorted to a new method – advertising in leading economic magazines. Thus, in the latest issue of The Economist, a full-page paid advertisement is spread out aimed at potential investors.
Suggestively titled ‘Choose Croatia as Your Next Investment Destination’, the paid article seeks to present our country as a destination that has ‘opened its doors wide to all investors’.
The text first emphasizes the fact that Croatia has recently become the 28th member of the European Union and the benefits that this membership brings, before highlighting that ‘a lot of effort has been put into changing the business climate and the investment environment’. It is also stated that our country has, quote, ‘one of the most competitive legislations in Europe when it comes to promoting investments’, as well as several institutions that will support investors in their entrepreneurial ventures.
Therefore, the advertisement is signed by the Agency for Investments and Competitiveness, and the Center for Monitoring Business in the Energy Sector and Investments, as institutions that foreign investors can turn to. The advertisement also features a picture of the Minister of Economy Ivan Vrdoljak, as well as an image of the Justice Square project worth, as stated, 200 million euros. This project, the advertisement states, ‘is a clear indication that Croatia is open to all potential investors’, although they would likely also be interested in whether the current tensions between the SDP and HNS regarding this project have been resolved.
