Gasoline prices rise by about 30 lipa, diesel by 18-19 lipa

Motor gasoline prices will increase by 27 to 31 lipa per liter from midnight, euro diesel will rise by 19 lipa, and blue diesel and heating oil by 18 lipa, according to data from the Ministry of Economy, which today published the highest levels of retail prices for petroleum products for the period from September 3 to 16.

During this period, oil companies will be able to set the highest price for eurosuper BS 95 at 10.78 kuna, which is 27 lipa higher than the previous 10.51 kuna.

Eurosuper BS 98 will increase by 29 lipa, and for the first time since mid-March, the price of this gasoline will be above 11 kuna. The highest price for eurosuper 98 from tomorrow can be 11.12 kuna (previously 10.83 kuna).

Eurosuper BS 100 will increase by 31 lipa per liter, and its new price is 11.35 kuna (previously 11.04 kuna).

Diesel fuels will increase less than gasoline from midnight, and with an increase of 19 lipa per liter, the price of euro diesel BS will, for the first time since the beginning of March, exceed 10 kuna. The highest price for euro diesel BS from tomorrow can be 10.01 kuna (previously 9.82 kuna).

The prices of blue diesel and heating oil will rise by 18 lipa, as the Ministry has set the highest price for blue-dyed gas oil at 6.47 kuna (previously 6.29 kuna), and for gas oil at 6.87 kuna (previously 6.69 kuna).

The latest increase in petroleum product prices coincided with the entry into force of a new regulation on the amount of excise duties on motor gasoline, gas oil, and kerosene for propulsion, which increased excise duties on gasoline, gas oil, and kerosene for propulsion by 10 lipa per liter, and for heating gas oil by 8 lipa per liter.

However, at the same time tomorrow, September 3, amendments to the Regulation on determining the highest retail prices of petroleum products will also come into force, which reduced the premiums of the energy entity by 10 lipa for motor gasoline and euro diesel, by 8 lipa for heating gas oil, while the premium for blue diesel remains unchanged.

The government adopted the new excise duty regulation at the end of last week during a telephone session and announced that higher excise duties would also be accompanied by amendments to the Regulation, which reduces the premiums of the energy entity by the same amount, so that ultimately it would not affect the retail prices of petroleum products.

Changes in retail prices of derivatives, according to the Regulation, primarily depend on the movement of petroleum product prices in the Mediterranean market and the exchange rate of the US dollar.

Ina announced this afternoon on its website that in the past 15-day accounting period, gasoline quotations in the Mediterranean market have significantly increased, by up to 5.37 percent, while gas oil quotations have increased by up to 3.33 percent. The exchange rate of the dollar against the kuna weakened by 0.15 percent compared to the previous accounting period.

In addition to the derivatives for which the Ministry has determined and published the highest retail prices for the next 15 days, oil companies at their gas stations may also have derivatives with added multifunctional additives for which they can freely determine the premium, and therefore may have a higher price than that set by the relevant Ministry.

However, in that case, they must also allow customers to purchase a specific derivative without added additives, and at gas stations where this option is not available, oil companies must have a retail price that is equal to or lower than the price published by the Ministry for that petroleum derivative, as stipulated by the Regulation.
