The only paranormal aspect associated with this film about the paranormal is the very good reviews that reach as high as 86 percent on the Rotten Tomatoes portal, which highlight the characteristics of almost every better-directed film in the category of innocent families battling unclean spirits.
For unclear reasons, the banging doors, creaking, dead dogs, ‘demonologists’, ghosts, witches, and other classic motifs in ‘The Conjuring’ are indeed brilliant, unlike other identical films that regularly attract the wrath and disgust of critics. This also applies to the slow build-up of suspense without effects and great fear, yet another element seen countless times before. To ensure that the film stands out from the sea of identical mediocrity, an impressive amount of horror clichés successfully crammed into the standard duration and rounded off with the usual reference to true events, a feat that certainly deserves recognition. The collective psychology of American critics, however, is truly an inexplicable phenomenon.
