The Zagreb City Assembly will discuss the operations of the Zagreb Holding at an extraordinary session, which Mayor Milan Bandić is also expected to comment on.
According to the report from the management of the Zagreb Holding on operations last year, the company’s long-term liabilities amount to 6.7 billion kuna, while short-term liabilities are three billion, and the loss was 359 million kuna, which is 126 million less than in 2011, primarily due to the increase in prices of ZET and Water Supply and Drainage. There will also be discussions about the Holding’s performance results since its establishment.
AGM, Čistoća, City Housing and Communal Economy, Commodity Terminals, Housing Construction, Markets, Water Supply and Drainage, and Zrinjevac are some of the subsidiaries that should be transformed into commercial companies, at the proposal of Mayor Milan Bandić, reported Davorka Pejnović from the City Office for Economy, Labor, and Entrepreneurship. Bandić’s proposal was accepted by a majority vote (three in favor, two abstained) by members of the Assembly’s Committee for Economic Development.
– The situation in the Holding cannot afford delays; it would be good to have more time to consider the proposal, but the situation is such that we must extinguish the fire – said the chairman of that committee, Davor Štern (Independent List of Milan Bandić), in response to claims from the SDP and HDZ that it is unclear by what criteria those subsidiaries were selected and what exactly the proposer wants and aims for.
Milan Bandić stated that the Holding needs urgent rehabilitation, followed by restructuring and privatization.
