Podravka Continues to Manage Surplus Workers

The management of Podravka today reported that, at the proposal of the unions, it has made a decision to continue the implementation of the incentive program for managing surplus workers within the restructuring process, which has been welcomed by the three unions operating at Podravka.

Surplus workers are being managed with severance payments of 4,000 kuna per year of uninterrupted service at Podravka, thus continuing the restructuring, according to Podravka’s statement.

It also conveys a statement from the CEO Zvonimir Mršić, who says that the management wants to enable workers whose skills are not realistically needed in the current circumstances and business demands to leave with dignity.

The ongoing restructuring process is essential for increasing business efficiency and ensuring job sustainability, and the results so far show us that we are on the right track, says Mršić.

The branch of the PPDIV Union, the Independent Union of Podravka, and the Union of Workers of the Podravka Group welcomed the management of workers with incentive severance payments in a joint statement.

The unions are satisfied because this decision was prompted by union initiative, assessing that the environment in which Podravka operates is very complex.

The unions remind that processes of divesting the beverage, bakery, and frozen food businesses are underway and believe that the incentive management will involve a smaller number of workers.

The management of Podravka today decided to initiate a new cycle of hiring interns, specifically announcing a competition for 20 highly educated interns in the fields of food technology, chemical engineering, chemistry, pharmacy, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, economics, psychology, sociology, and mathematics.

The competition will be open from September 2 to 10, and the expected start date is November 1.

Podravka reminds that last year the company successfully implemented the Shape program, which attracted more than 800 candidates from across Croatia, and 28 of them were given the opportunity to build their careers in this food company.
