Hajdaš Dončić in Indonesia seeks buyers for Croatia Airlines?

Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Siniša Hajdaš Dončić, on the first day of his official visit to Indonesia, met with the Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs of Indonesia, Sharif C. Sutardjo, and the main topic of the meeting was the possibility of cooperation between the two ministries in the area of economic development, particularly of island communities, the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure reported today.

Minister Hajdaš Dončić is on an official visit to Indonesia from August 26 to 30, and will meet with the ministers of maritime affairs, transport, and public enterprises, leading figures from KADIN, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, as well as leaders of several Indonesian companies in the fields of rail, road, maritime, and air transport, including representatives of the airline Garuda, which has expressed interest in cooperating with Croatia Airlines.

The statement regarding the meeting with Minister Sharif C. Sutardjo notes that the Indonesian Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs primarily oversees fisheries policy and island development, and discussions were held about possible cooperation between the two countries and ministries aimed at improving economic development and living conditions on the islands.

Minister Sutardjo presented the concept of Indonesian policy called Minawisata, which includes sustainable and integrated development of fisheries and tourism on small islands using natural resources and the environment.

The minister emphasized that this concept is still in development and that assistance from Croatian experts and companies in implementing the future strategy would be beneficial. The concept itself includes three projects on Indonesian islands, and possible areas of cooperation with Croatia are the construction of small fishing boats, the development of tourism offerings in small island communities, and knowledge in the field of shipbuilding education, the statement notes.

Discussions also included the Croatian project for desalination of seawater, which had previously been discussed with Croatian representatives in the Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs.

The Croatian company Crosalwat Solar System from Erdut, in fact, contacted the Indonesian Ministry at the beginning of this year and presented its seawater desalination technology, generating interest among Indonesians, the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure emphasizes.

Minister Hajdaš Dončić pointed out that further contacts through the Croatian Embassy in Jakarta and the Joint Indonesian-Croatian Commission for Economic Cooperation will continue the work on the realization of these projects.

Representatives of the Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs expressed a desire to visit Croatia and establish direct contacts with representatives of small shipowners, shipyards, and Croatian companies, the statement concludes, published on the Ministry’s website.
