Today officially marks the completion of the IPA 2009 project “Implementation of eSpis in Selected Municipal Courts.” The Ministry of Justice has thus completed the introduction of the system for monitoring court cases (eSpis) in 33 municipal courts in the Republic of Croatia, thereby completing the gradual introduction of the eSpis system in all commercial, county, and 65 municipal courts in Croatia.
The introduction of the system in Croatian courts began in November 2008 as part of the PHARE 2006 program and was completed with this project worth €519,989.00, which was co-financed by the European Union with 85% of the funds under the IPA 2009 program.
As part of the project, in addition to the introduction of eSpis in 33 courts, a web service e-Predmet (http://e-predmet.pravosudje.hr) was developed and put into operation, allowing free and public access to basic data about court cases for all parties, attorneys, and other interested persons involved in court proceedings.
The project will contribute to the long-term reform of the Croatian judiciary by increasing the efficiency and transparency of the judicial system. The court case management system will enable immediate insight for courts, as well as the public, into court cases while respecting the protection of personal data of all participants. It will allow for better management of court proceedings, faster data exchange among courts and other public administration bodies, as well as cost optimization.
The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Croatia implemented the system infrastructure in cooperation with IBM Croatia.
