Horvatinčić requests public halls from Bandić at the Cvjetni Center

Since the City of Zagreb has not shown any desire for two years to utilize two halls in the Cvjetni Center for cultural and public events, its owner Tomislav Horvatinčić is again asking the mayor and the City Assembly to hand them over so that he can rent them to caterers and merchants.

In this way, as reported by Večernji list, the City would lose one room in the basement of 600 square meters and another on the ground floor of the center of 200 square meters to which it is entitled under the contract.

Namely, precisely because of these halls, the entire Center has been declared of special public interest for the citizens of Zagreb, allowing for the construction of an entrance to the underground garage from the pedestrian area on Varšavska Street. Unlike last year when he offered money for the same halls, Horvatinčić now offers to build two new halls in the basement of the building at Gundulićeva 5 as compensation, and that one day when the project is fully completed.

According to the offer from the Hoto group, which Mayor Milan Bandić accepted and sent to the City Assembly for voting at the session on August 29, Hoto would take over the halls immediately, and there is no defined deadline by which they must provide new halls to the City. They only commit to starting the relocation of the courtyard building at Gundulićeva 5/1, where the Dental Faculty is located, within four years after the City hands over the halls and after they obtain permits for conducting catering and commercial activities in them.

This building is the biggest obstacle for Horvatinčić to complete the project. Hoto states that if they fail to relocate the faculty, they will pay the City 4.3 million kuna for the larger hall and 1.4 million for the smaller hall in cash.

A similar proposal was rejected by the City Assembly in February last year when Hoto offered the City a write-off of claims amounting to 6.2 million kuna in exchange for the halls.
