‘From the new management of the Holding, I expect lower utility prices’

Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandić commented today on the dismissals of the former Management of Zagreb Holding.

– Well, for me, that is a thing of the past. They are no longer my problem. They are the problem of those who appointed them. Why should that be my problem anymore – Bandić stated to reporters this morning after visiting the construction site of the French Pavilion.

– They will find jobs for themselves; those who employed them will find places for them again – Bandić said, adding that he cares for 26,000 employees in city institutions and companies and 800,000 residents.

– In a democratic society, one must get used to the fact that some leave while others come. If we do well, we will stay; if not, someone else will come. One does not elevate in good times, nor does one humiliate in bad times. And we must learn in 23 years of democracy that changes in responsibility are a normal thing and that citizens decide on that – Bandić said.

The Mayor expects the new Management to propose a reduction in the prices of some utility services before August 30, when an extraordinary session of the City Assembly on the state of Zagreb Holding is to be held.

– I expect the President of the Management of Zagreb Holding, Slobodan Ljubičić, and his Management to propose some price reductions, rationalizing and implementing new measures to put the Holding on solid ground – Bandić emphasized.

The Director of the Corporate Communications Service of Zagreb Holding, Dušan Viro, confirmed last night that the entire former Management of Zagreb Holding, led by President Ivo Čović, has been dismissed. Along with the former President of the Holding, Ivo Čović, Vlasta Pavić, Alenka Košiša Čičin-Šain, and Tomislav Čulo were also dismissed.

According to media reports, they are not surprised, although they knew that there was no future for them in the Holding. They were not offered new jobs but were dismissed, contrary to their employment contracts.
