Half a million kuna for Business Intelligence for Big Data solutions

The Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Crafts and the Croatian Agency for Small Business and Investments (HAMAG) have supported the proposal for the project to build a Big Data software solution for Business Intelligence with a non-repayable financial grant of 544 thousand kuna, which represents half of the total investment in this project.

The other 50 percent of the total investment will be financed by Business Intelligence from its own funds.
The contract for the allocation of non-repayable grants from the Entrepreneurial Impulse program, Activity B1 Strengthening Business Competitiveness, was signed on behalf of HAMAG by Management Board members Goran Becker and Martina Jus, and on behalf of Business Intelligence by Management Board member Lidija Karaga.

The goals that the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Crafts and the Croatian Agency for Small Business and Investments aim to achieve through the Entrepreneurial Impulse program are to strengthen the technological base of small and medium-sized enterprises and their capacities for research and development of innovations, to solidify the position of small and medium-sized enterprises in the market and enable the expansion of production and product range, to enhance the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises by investing in new and modernizing existing technologies, to position themselves in the market to achieve better business results, to create new jobs and retain existing ones. Through the project of building a Big Data software solution, Business Intelligence will achieve all the aforementioned goals of the Ministry and HAMAG.

-Our project includes four main activities – investment in technological infrastructure, investment in the development of our software solution, investment in ISO 27001 certification, and investment in professional certification of employees. The goal of these activities is to create a new solution that will be able to respond to the growing demands for big data analytics. Big data analytics is the concept of data analysis and deriving useful information from large amounts of data that are rapidly generated in modern business – from conventional systems like databases to unstructured location and sensor sources and social networks, emphasized Lidija Karaga.

She also added that ‘enriching the portfolio of products and services with such a solution will enable Business Intelligence to further strengthen its position in existing markets and open new markets – especially in terms of access to large telecommunications operators and financial institutions in European Union countries.’

The project has been recognized as sustainable and aligned with two strategic goals of the draft National Entrepreneurship Development Strategy 2013 – 2020. Its realization will increase competitiveness and ensure presence in the markets of European Union countries – which enables the export of domestic knowledge and services; it also encourages the employment of young highly educated professionals – thereby retaining skilled labor in Croatia, which are precisely the main goals that HAMAG seeks to achieve.
