In the tourism sector, during the first seven months of this year, just over 30 thousand new individuals were employed, which is 17.4 percent more than in the same period last year. Minister of Tourism Darko Lorencin considers this increase logical given the growth in both physical and financial tourist traffic in the pre-season and the beginning of the main summer season, expecting that employment in the sector will continue to follow the trends of that traffic.
The minister also emphasizes the importance of workers in the tourism sector for the smooth flow and quality of the tourist season, thus highlighting the significant interest in working in tourism.
He is confident that in the continuation of this tourist year, the number of employees in tourism will follow the trend of tourist traffic, which is expected to be at the level of last year’s record results in physical numbers, with a revenue growth of 2 to 3 percent.
According to the latest data from the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ), which is reported today by the Ministry of Tourism, a total of 30,328 new individuals were employed in tourism activities in the first seven months of this year, which is 17.4 percent more than last year.
Newly employed individuals in tourism thus accounted for 22.4 percent of the total number of newly employed individuals in Croatia during the first seven months of this year.
When observed by types of occupations in tourism activities, the highest number of individuals, 21.5 percent, were employed as waiters, 18 percent as cooks, while 2.5 percent found work as housekeepers.
