Split Airport today recorded its millionth passenger of the year, marking the earliest date in the history of this airport for reaching one million passengers, and this July also saw a record monthly traffic, as reported by the management of Split Airport.
Last year, the millionth passenger was recorded on August 24, while this year it was on August 12, which means we have achieved a new date record for one million passengers in a single year, said Pero Bilas, the assistant director of Split Airport, to Hina.
This year’s millionth passenger at Split Airport is Austrian citizen, lawyer Petar Kisser, who was awarded 300 euros, which, as Bilas stated, he immediately spent today at Split Airport.
In addition, Croatia Airlines, whose aircraft the millionth passenger traveled on at Split Airport, rewarded him with two round-trip tickets on a route of his choice.
Bilas noted that in July, 336,000 passengers passed through Split Airport, which is a monthly record for all airports in Croatia, and is about 14 percent higher traffic than in July 2012, when approximately 293,000 passengers traveled through Split Airport.
He explained that this record monthly increase in passengers at Split Airport in July this year was achieved by increasing the number of passengers on weekdays, which, according to Bilas, is a novelty in passenger traffic through this airport.
