Tourist destinations on the Makarska Riviera, where more than 50,000 guests continue their vacation, still have very good summer business, and in the hotels where about 11,500 guests, mostly foreigners, are staying, there are very few available rooms.
Therefore, leading hotel companies have sent stop-booking notices to their business partners for September.
Campsites are also continuing with good business, and private renters have about 10 percent better occupancy than at the same time last year.
In the first seven months of this year, approximately 363,500 tourists stayed on the Makarska Riviera, which is 3 percent more than in the same period last year, while the number of overnight stays increased by 2 percent, reaching 2,333,034 overnight stays, according to data from the Tourist Board of Split-Dalmatia County and tourist offices from the Makarska Riviera.
According to initial indicators, this summer the largest number of guests comes from Poland, followed by Czechs and guests from Bosnia and Herzegovina, while there has been an increase in the number of German and Norwegian tourists as well as guests from England and Austria.
The highest number of arrivals and overnight stays is recorded in Makarska, followed by Baška Voda, Tučepi, Podgora, and the municipality of Gradac.
From January to the end of July, the Makarska Riviera was visited by 34 percent of the total number of guests who vacationed in Split-Dalmatia County, and in the area from Brela to the municipality of Gradac, nearly 40 percent of the total number of overnight stays in the county was realized.
