At the end of July, the Croatian Employment Service recorded 316,246 unemployed individuals. This is 0.6% or 1,864 persons less than in the previous month. On an annual basis, compared to July 2012, the number of unemployed is higher by 5.9% or 17,556 persons, reported HZZ.
This marks the fifth consecutive month of a decrease in the number of unemployed on a monthly basis, although this trend is now slowing down.
This reduction was also influenced by seasonal employment, and according to HZZ data, from January to July of this year, 37,186 individuals were employed in seasonal jobs, accounting for 27.4% of all employed based on employment contracts. This is an increase of 1,708 persons or 4.8% compared to the number of individuals employed in seasonal jobs during the same period in 2012.
HZZ data shows that during July, a total of 33,593 individuals exited the unemployment registry, while at the same time, a total of 31,729 individuals were newly registered as unemployed.
In July, 22,812 individuals were employed, which is 21.9% more than in the same month last year. Of these, 20,306 individuals were employed based on the establishment of an employment relationship, and 2,506 based on other business activities.
At the same time, in July, 10,781 individuals exited the unemployment registry for other reasons (irregular reporting, non-compliance with legal provisions, retirement, enrollment in regular education, etc.).
Recorded employment based on employment relationships in July was most frequently realized in the sectors of accommodation services, food preparation and serving (4,698 persons or 23.1%), wholesale and retail trade (18.7%), and manufacturing industry (16.7%).
