Today, Minister of Economy Ivan Vrdoljak stated that he sees Croatia’s way out of the crisis in private investments and private capital, as well as in persisting with fiscal consolidation, commenting on the forecasts of the American credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s, which downgraded Croatia’s credit rating outlook from ‘stable’ to ‘negative’.
-What Standard & Poor’s is saying, and I have personally spoken with them, is that they have maintained the rating with a negative outlook, and it is up to us in the next six months to show how we can return the outlook to positive- Vrdoljak told reporters after laying wreaths at the grave of Savka Dabčević-Kučar.
In his opinion, only private capital, private investments, and fiscal consolidation, which must be pursued with both reducing the expenditure side and increasing the revenue side, can save us.
-When we show this by the end of the year, then I am no longer afraid for our rating- asserted the Minister of Economy, adding, however, that time will tell whether we will succeed in these goals. He also acknowledged that there are not enough investments, especially private ones.
