The U.S. has decided to extend the closure of certain embassies and consulates in the Middle East as a precautionary measure.
Certain missions that were closed on Sunday due to threats of al-Qaeda attacks will remain closed until August 10, the State Department announced.
Other U.S. diplomatic missions, including those in Kabul, Baghdad, and Algiers, which were closed on Sunday, will reopen today.
Missions in the cities of Abu Dhabi, Amman, Cairo, Riyadh, Dhahran, Jeddah, Doha, Dubai, Kuwait, Manama, Muscat, Sana’a, Tripoli, Antananarivo, Bujumbura, Djibouti, Khartoum, Kigali, and Port Louis will be closed until Saturday.
U.S. diplomatic missions in the cities of Dhaka, Algiers, Nouakchott, Kabul, Herat, Mazar-i-Sharif, Baghdad, Basra, and Erbil will open today, according to the State Department.
