This year’s tourist season is difficult to compare with last year’s in many ways, including physical indicators that were weaker in some regions in the first part of July, but stronger in others compared to last year, said Tourism Minister Darko Lorencin recently.
Meri Matešić, director of the HTZ Main Office, stated that according to information from the field, in most coastal destinations, the numbers are either slightly up or similar to last year, except for Istria, which is experiencing a decline.
However, slightly different information is coming from the media. There are reports of a decline in arrivals of Russian and Serbian tourists, and promotions being offered by hotels that are usually fully booked during the peak season. Nevertheless, we still have the entire month of August ahead of us and the post-season, which traditionally brings numerous gatherings and conferences. Is there a reason for panic, or will we all end up rubbing our hands in satisfaction?
