All Political Options Recognized the Importance of Pre-Bankruptcy Settlements

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and European Union Funds Branko Grčić stated today that the pre-bankruptcy settlement project is the first project supported by all political options in Croatia, which should be respected.

– The draft law on pre-bankruptcy settlement (…) is the first project around which practically all political options in Croatia have united, and this should be respected. Namely, everyone has recognized how important this project is to enable a vast number of companies to survive – said Grčić in Banski dvori after a meeting with British Minister of State for Trade and Investment Lord Green.

He also reminded that in the companies that have so far submitted a proposal to initiate the pre-bankruptcy settlement process, 40,000 people are employed. Pre-bankruptcy settlements aim to save those jobs ‘and everyone in this country should probably take care and think about how to save those jobs. This Government has offered a solution,’ said Grčić.

He added that the Government has done its part, and that ‘it is up to others to do their job as well, but to take into account all the consequences of their own activities and their own work.’

Grčić did not want to comment on the sharp statements of Finance Minister Slavko Linić regarding the decision of the judge of the Zagreb Commercial Court to stop the pre-bankruptcy settlement over Dalekovod and to request the Constitutional Court to assess the constitutionality of the Law on Financial Operations and Pre-Bankruptcy Settlement. However, he said, ‘those who live with it understand best what it is about.’
