HZZ now assists in job searching in EU countries

With Croatia’s accession to the EU, it automatically became a member of the EURES network, which consists of public employment services from EU countries and the European Economic Area. If you wish to try your luck in one of the EU countries and seek employment there, as of July 1, the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ) can assist you in that search, writes Večernji list.

Namely, with Croatia’s accession to the EU, it automatically became a member of the EURES network, which consists of public employment services from EU countries and the European Economic Area (including Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway). This means that Croatia established cooperation with the employment services of all EU countries on July 1.

– The purpose of the EURES network is to provide information, advice, and mediation services to both employers and job seekers from all EU countries, and thanks to this, HZZ now also has a role in mediating the employment of our people in EU countries as well as workers from the EU in our country – explained Vilma Mostahinić, head of EURES and international business at HZZ.

In practice, this means that if an employer from Italy contacts HZZ and requests a specific employee, HZZ checks with colleagues from the corresponding Italian employment service and only then connects them with our citizen interested in the offer. Also, if any of our citizens wishes to obtain a job with an employer in the EU or already has a specific offer, HZZ will verify them for that employer.

– We will also be able to assist in connecting with employers, providing information on what applications need to be filled out, how health and pension insurance works in a particular country, whom to contact, in which country to pay income tax, how to use the EURES portal… All these services will be free of charge – specified EURES advisor Patricija Kezele.

In Croatia, according to V. Mostahinić and P. Kezele, native speakers for foreign language schools, tourist animators, shipbuilding engineers, specialist doctors…, are mainly sought from EU countries, while EU countries are looking for nurses and technicians, cooks, waiters, civil engineers, IT specialists…
