The application that enables the display of theater subtitles on mobile devices, Vip Script, was developed in collaboration with Vipnet and has its premiere at the 64th Dubrovnik Summer Games.
The primary task of the application is to overcome communication barriers by displaying subtitles in real-time, making it easier for foreign tourists and individuals with hearing impairments to follow the events on stage, in two languages: English or contemporary Croatian.
Based on reliable web technologies such as HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript, Vip Script is a server-side event-driven Node.js web application, and all subtitles sent to the web interface are stored in a MongoDB database, which also enables real-time operation.
The design of the application is responsive, so regardless of the type of device used to access the page dsf.vip.hr during the performance, the visuals look equally high-quality. For viewers who do not have their own smart device and wish to follow the subtitles, Vipnet has provided free rental of a certain number of tablets during the two hit performances Medea and Equinox.
