In the first half of 2013, 26 insurance companies recorded a total gross premium of 4,914,085,207 kuna.
This represents an increase of 0.3% compared to the results achieved in the same period of the previous year, according to cumulative data from the Croatian Insurance Bureau.
During this period, the companies Helios Vienna Insurance Group d.d. and Kvarner Vienna Insurance Group d.d. merged into Wiener osiguranje Vienna Insurance Group d.d., resulting in 26 companies operating in the insurance market in Croatia, or one less company.
In the non-life insurance segment, which accounts for 74.8% of the total premium, the gross premium recorded is 3,676,979,316 kuna, which is 1.4% less compared to the same period of the previous year.
The most prevalent type of insurance remains Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance, where the gross premium is 1.5% higher compared to the same period last year. The share of this type of insurance is increasing – 41.78% in non-life insurance premiums and 31.26% in the total gross premium.
In the life insurance segment, the gross premium recorded is 1,237,105,891 kuna, continuing a significant increase of 5.9%. Life insurance accounts for 25.2% of the total premium (while in the previous year’s period, the share in the total gross premium was 23.85%).
The largest share is held by traditional Life Insurance with a premium 7.5% higher than the previous year, followed by Additional Insurance alongside life insurance with a share in the total premium of 1.59%, but with a decrease compared to the same period of the previous year of 2.8%.
