The Croatian Parliament will consider the final proposal for the establishment of the foundation ‘Hrvatska kuća – Croatian House’ on the last day of its session before the summer break, which will promote Croatian culture, language, and heritage through its representations abroad.
The promotion of national culture in several other European countries is carried out through special legal entities established for this purpose, such as the French Institute in Paris, the Estonian Institute, the Polish Cultural Institute, and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in Warsaw.
The new foundation is envisioned as a central institution for the international promotion of Croatian culture, which will also assist Croats outside of Croatia.
For the operation of the foundation in 2014, 200,000 kuna will be allocated within the budget of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Representatives are expected to vote tomorrow on the discussed points, and they will reconvene in September unless there are extraordinary sessions.
Monday, July 15, is also the last day of the regular summer session, as the Parliament regularly meets twice a year: between January 15 and July 15, and between September 15 and December 15.
The government’s proposal for the establishment of the foundation ‘Hrvatska kuća – Croatian House’, which would promote Croatian culture, language, and heritage through representations abroad as a central institution, did not receive support from the HDZ and HDSSB clubs in the first reading in Parliament. They were questioned about the financial aspect of the foundation’s establishment and operation.
