Loans for Closing Debt on Current Accounts Are Increasing

In the first six months of 2013, housing loans from Hrvatska poštanska banka increased by 7.4 percent. The gross loan portfolio for households at HPB rose by 5.2% during the same period, amounting to 3.95 billion kuna at the end of June.

Other loans to households increased by 4.9 percent, continuing a slight rise in pensioner loans. In the first half of 2013, a trend of increasing loans for closing debts on current accounts was also recorded, the bank reports.

Housing loans at HPB increased by 27.6% last year. HPB offered housing loans in kuna two years ago, and by the end of the first half of 2013, the portfolio of these loans was equal to the portfolio of housing loans with a currency clause. At the same time, the share of kuna housing loans in the banking system is around 7 percent. HPB does not have mortgage loans in Swiss francs as it has never approved such types of loans, they conclude.
