The HRT Supervisory Board has initiated the procedure for the dismissal of the Director General of HRT, Goran Radman, after the Commission for Deciding on Conflicts of Interest concluded that Radman was required to declare all his assets in his asset declaration, including a hotel in Slovenia, which he failed to do.
With three votes in favor and one abstention, the Supervisory Board decided in an urgent and open session to initiate the procedure for Radman’s dismissal, who had previously stated that he would not resign from the head of HRT.
In addition to the failure to declare the hotel in the asset declaration, the procedure for Radman’s dismissal has also been forwarded to the Parliamentary Media Committee due to irregularities in appointments at HRT, interference in programming, a sexist outburst against an employee, and labeling journalists as evil calling for lynching.
Radman was present at the Supervisory Board meeting but did not wish to comment on their decision to journalists. In support of Radman, a petition was signed today at HRT.
According to the HRT Act, the procedure for the dismissal of the Director General of HRT is initiated by the Supervisory Board, and the proposal for dismissal is submitted to the Parliament by the Media Committee. The Director General is appointed and dismissed by the Parliament by a majority vote of all representatives for a term of five years. In the event of the termination of the Director General’s mandate, the Parliament appoints an acting director until a new director is elected, for a maximum period of six months.
