‘The Collapse of Banks Scares the Public’

Even if the High Commercial Court changes this decision, much has already been done – consumer awareness has been awakened; people have become aware that they need to be cautious when entering into financial arrangements, but I am convinced that banks will also change their behavior, said Uruge Franak lawyer Nicole Kwiatowski for Novi list.

She did not even attempt to calculate how much a potential ruling would cost the banks.

-The figures mentioned, from seven to 15 billion kuna, are scaring the public with the collapse of the system. If it becomes final, this is certainly not something that will endanger, let alone destroy, the banking sector. There are methods, if the ruling becomes final, on how this can be implemented without anyone being harmed. If that amount of money does appear, it will return to the economy, which is where banks all over the world, not just in Croatia, first took the money from. And when it returns to the economy, it will return to the banks as well. It will reduce their profits, that’s for sure, says Nicole, who herself is indebted in euros.
