Representatives of the Zagreb City Assembly have approved the proposal for the regulation on parking zones, conditions, and parking prices, which reduces parking prices in public garages by 25 to 50 percent, depending on the type of ticket.
The representatives accepted the proposal to increase the occupancy of garages and relieve street parking.
They also unanimously accepted the amendment to the decision on determining the fee for waste disposal and on determining the boundaries of the area for reduced property value, as reported by Hina. The decision regulates the amount of the fee that the owner of the building for waste disposal or the holder of other real rights on that building pays to the City of Zagreb, stipulating that the fee increases from 25 kuna to 65 kuna per ton of waste, based on the amount of waste disposed of in the previous month.
Zagreb County has only 30 T1 emergency medical teams available, which is insufficient relative to the population and size of the county. Therefore, it has been proposed to increase their number to 50. The Zagreb County Assembly also accepted the annual report on the execution of the county budget for 2012. Revenues amount to 287,692,831.06 kuna, while expenditures are 271,178,985.52 kuna.
The initiative of Mayor Milan Bandić for the procurement of school textbooks, which will be free for all primary school students in Zagreb for the 2013/2014 school year, was unanimously accepted. The funds for the procurement of textbooks will be secured by amending the City budget at the next Assembly session. The Head of the City Office for Education, Culture, and Sports, Ivica Lovrić, emphasized that this is the fulfillment of Milan Bandić’s electoral promise for a four-year period, unless the Government takes it upon itself. He added that ensuring free textbooks will not slow down investments in education.
