Clearly, we need adjustment, but in a few days everything will be streamlined

The Minister of Finance, Slavko Linić, stated regarding the congestion at the eastern borders of Croatia that it is evident that adjustments are needed for the European border and customs, as well as for many carriers and those who import or export goods to the EU, but that everything will be streamlined in a few days.

– It is clear that we need a period of adjustment on both sides, and that this will mean queues, so we should not be burdened by that. In a couple of days, more or less, everything will be streamlined, and both importers and exporters, as well as customs, will know their jobs. Therefore, a very short adjustment period. Of course, this is only at our eastern borders – said Minister Linić for RTL Danas.

He added that it is evident that adjustments are needed for the European border and customs, and unfortunately for many carriers and those who import or export goods to the European Union. Reflecting on the protests of market vendors regarding the introduction of fiscal cash registers, Minister Linić emphasized that fiscalization continues. – We are interested in who is selling and where the cash ends up – he said.

Commenting on the arguments of vendors against fiscalization, Minister Linić stated that technical conditions are not a problem, adding that they are negotiating with cities to ensure them power supply as well as internet connection.

– Therefore, the markets are those that I believe will take care to enable those who use their spaces to have conditions – emphasized Linić.

In response to a journalist’s question about haggling at markets, the minister said that a vendor can write in the morning that a kilogram of tomatoes is, for example, 10 kuna, at 10 o’clock – eight kuna, at 1 PM – two kuna. – Therefore, all the apparatus can handle that, and that is what we are not interested in. We are interested in who is selling, where they got the goods from, and where the cash ends up – emphasized Minister Linić. He also dismissed the argument of the protesters that no European market issues fiscal receipts.

– There are examples like the organized market in Barcelona. Tax administrations in Europe are indeed taking care to reduce illegal business and the gray economy and how to control employees. And here is the answer – all those people will remain working. What I am convinced of is that many of them are currently working illegally. With the introduction of fiscalization, we will have very clear data, and all of them will have to register with the Employment Service, pay their contributions, have a secured pension, and not wait for old age on state social assistance – concluded Minister Linić.
