Although Croatia has joined the European Union, it cannot yet adopt the euro. Namely, every two years, European institutions will check whether the new member meets all the conditions for adopting the euro, including the level of deficit, inflation, and debt – say the European Central Bank.
Unlike Denmark and the United Kingdom, Croatia does not have the right to opt out of adopting the single currency. Governor Boris Vujčić, speaking at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, stated that we will strive to adopt the euro – as soon as possible.
It is too early to talk about it. I have already emphasized that Croatia is under a significant influence of the euro and it makes sense to discuss adopting it as soon as possible. When it becomes possible, we will talk about it, said the governor of the HNB.
