ZSE: ‘Ex dividend’ day for Adris

On the Zagreb Stock Exchange, calm trading is expected today, as there are no catalysts in sight for more active trading, and turnover may remain low as the summer vacation season has begun.

All 6 analysts from brokerage firms who participated in the Hina survey expect stagnation of the Crobex today. The Crobex index weakened by 0.43 percent on Monday, to 1,787 points, while Crobex10 fell by 0.62 percent, to 1,005 points. Regular trading turnover amounted to 9.3 million kuna, which is approximately five times less than on Friday.

– Today I expect stagnation of the Crobex, along with the already usual low turnover. There are no catalysts in sight for more vigorous trading. There will likely be few market participants as the summer vacation season has begun – says Matko Bošković, director of the Investment Banking Division at Centar Bank.

In focus for investors today could be the shares of Adris, given the ex-dividend date, which means that from today, the preferred and regular shares of this company are traded without the right to a dividend payout of 7 kuna per share. However, Bošković does not expect this to significantly impact today’s trading.

On Monday, the trading volume of Adris’s preferred shares was also very low, with its price weakening by 0.98 percent, to 281.70 kuna, while there was no trading at all in the regular issue.

On Wall Street on Tuesday, stock prices recovered some of the losses from the previous day, as investors were encouraged by better-than-expected economic data from the U.S. and soothing comments from the Chinese central bank.

The Dow Jones index strengthened by 0.69 percent, while the S&P 500 rose by 0.95, and the Nasdaq index by 0.82 percent. After four days of decline, stock prices rose this morning on most Asian exchanges, while the main indices on European exchanges are stable after yesterday’s increase.
