From midnight, lower prices for gasoline, heating oil, and blue diesel, while higher for euro diesel

Motor gasoline will decrease in price by 16 or 17 lipa per liter from midnight, while blue diesel and heating oil will also decrease by 6 or 7 lipa, whereas only euro diesel will increase in price by 6 lipa per liter due to an increase in excise duty, according to data from the Ministry of Economy, which today published the highest retail prices for petroleum products for the period from June 25 to July 8.

According to this data, the highest retail price for the best-selling gasoline, eurosuper 95, will be 10.11 kuna per liter, which is 16 lipa less than the previous 10.27 kuna.

The new price for eurosuper BS 98 is 10.43 kuna, which is also 16 lipa less than the previous 10.59 kuna, while eurosuper BS 100 will be sold at 10.63 kuna from midnight, or 17 lipa less than the previous 10.80 kuna.

As of tomorrow, June 25, a regulation will come into force increasing the excise duty on gas oil for propulsion by 9.65 lipa per liter, meaning the retail price of euro diesel BS will be higher by 6 lipa per liter, with its highest price being 9.44 kuna (previously 9.38 kuna).

The government amended the Regulation on the amount of excise duty on motor gasoline, gas oil, and kerosene for propulsion at last week’s session, increasing the excise duty on gas oil for propulsion from the previous 2,354 kuna per 1,000 liters to 2,450.45 kuna. This increase was justified by obligations related to the adaptation to EU regulations, specifically aligning with the minimum excise duties in the EU, which Croatia has already achieved for gasoline and now for diesel fuel.

Since the increase in excise duty does not apply to heating gas oil and blue diesel, from midnight, the prices of heating oil and blue diesel will decrease by 7 and 6 lipa per liter, respectively.

Thus, the highest price for gas oil marked as euro will be 6.47 kuna (previously 6.54 kuna) in the next two weeks, while blue-colored gas oil marked as euro will be 6.05 kuna (previously 6.11 kuna).

In addition to the derivatives for which the Ministry has determined and published the highest retail prices for the next 15 days, oil companies may also have derivatives with added multifunctional additives at their gas stations, which may have a higher price than that determined by the relevant Ministry.

Indeed, at the beginning of June, amendments to the Regulation on determining the highest retail prices for petroleum products (published in the Official Gazette on May 24) came into force, allowing oil companies to freely determine the premium for all petroleum derivatives with added multifunctional additives.

However, if they have such derivatives, oil companies must also allow customers to purchase a specific petroleum derivative without added multifunctional additives at every gas station where they sell that specific petroleum derivative.

If there is no possibility to purchase a specific petroleum derivative without added multifunctional additives at a gas station, then companies are obliged to apply a retail price that is equal to or lower than the price published by the Ministry for that petroleum derivative, as stipulated by the amendments to the Regulation.

According to the Regulation itself, changes in petroleum derivative prices primarily depend on the movement of petroleum derivative prices in the Mediterranean market and the exchange rate of the US dollar, with the maximum allowed change in the highest retail price being three percent in the case of price increases, and in the case of price reductions, they can fall by a maximum of six percent.

According to data published today on its website by Ina, in the recent period, gasoline quotations in the Mediterranean market have increased by up to 0.25 percent, while gas oil quotations have increased by 1.194 percent. At the same time, the exchange rate of the dollar against the kuna has weakened by 3.09 percent compared to the previous accounting period.
