Concessions Granted for All Maritime Lines in the Adriatic

Today, concession agreements for 23 ferry lines, 13 fast boat lines, and six classic boat lines were signed at the Agency for Coastal Line Maritime Transport in Split, based on which they will be maintained until December 31, 2016, as stipulated in accordance with the amendments to EU Directive 3577/92.

– This marks the completion of the most significant task in the public coastal line transport system to date – on all year-round lines determined by the decision of the Government of the Republic of Croatia regarding the designation of state lines, transport will be maintained based on concession agreements from July 1, 2013 – the Agency reported.

According to the data provided, the national carrier Jadrolinija will maintain the most lines – 23 ferry lines, eight fast boat lines, and three classic boat lines. For ferry lines, the agreements cover four profitable lines, for which Jadrolinija will pay an annual fee of two percent of the total revenue generated, and 19 unprofitable lines that Jadrolinija will maintain with state support.

The four profitable lines are Valbiska-Merag, Brestova-Porozina, Prizna-Žigljen, and Split-Supetar. The unprofitable lines that will be maintained by the national carrier are Zadar-Ist-Olib-Silba-Premuda-Mali Lošinj; Zadar-Ošljak-Preko; Biograd-Tkon; Zadar-Sestrunj-Zverinac-Molat-Ist; Brbinj-Zadar; Zadar-Bršanj-Rava; Šibenik-Kaprije-Žirje; Vis-Split; Lastovo-Vela Luka-Split; Vela Luka-Lastovo; Drvenik Veli-Drvenik Mali-Trogir-Split; Drvenik-Sućuraj; Ploče-Trpanj; Orebić-Dominče; Split-Stari Grad; Split-Rogač; Makarska-Sumartin; Dubrovnik-Suđurađ; Prapratno-Sobra.

From the fast boat lines, Jadrolinija will maintain the lines Novalja-Rab-Rijeka, Ist-Molat-Zadar, Zverinac-Božava-Sestrunj-Rivanj-Zadar, and Zadar-Iž-Rava, Jelsa-Bol-Split, and Split-Milna-Hvar, Lastovo-Vela Luka-Hvar-Split, and Korčula-Prigradica-Hvar-Split.

This carrier will also maintain the classic boat lines Unije-Srakane-Susak-Mali Lošinj, Vodice-Prvić-Zlarin-Šibenik, and Šipan-Lopud-Koločep-Dubrovnik.

The Dubrovnik company G & V Line has been granted a concession for maintaining the fast boat lines Zadar-Sali-Zaglav-(Veli Iž) and Dubrovnik-Šipanska Luka-Sobra-Polače-Korčula-Lastovo, as well as the boat lines Rava-Iž-Zadar and Sali-Zaglav-Zadar.

The classic boat line Orebić-Korčula will continue to be maintained by Mediteranska plovidba in bankruptcy from Korčula. The Zadar company Miatrade has been granted a concession for the fast boat line Olib-Premuda-Silba-Zadar, and the carrier MB Kapetan Luka-Ivan Tomić will maintain the line Vis-Hvar-Split.

The national line shipping from Split has been granted a concession for the fast boat lines Žirje-Kaprije-Šibenik and Split-Rogač-Stomorska, but the contract for the line Žirje-Kaprije-Šibenik has not been signed due to an appeal lodged by T.U.O. Mankul from Zadar.

The Agency for Coastal Line Maritime Transport emphasizes that by granting concessions for the lines until December 31, 2016, full employment of the capacities of Croatian carriers performing public line transport has been ensured, and that all new tenders from July 1, 2013, will be publicly advertised at the level of the European Union and that all carriers from the European Community will be able to compete equally.
