In the first five months of this year, 27 insurance companies operating in Croatia generated a total gross premium of 4.12 billion kuna, which is 0.4 percent higher than in the same period last year, according to data published today by the Croatian Insurance Bureau.
The largest share of the premiums relates to non-life insurance, accounting for 74.8 percent of the total premium. In the first five months, they reached an amount of 3.08 billion kuna, which is 1.5 percent lower than in the same period last year.
The most prevalent type of non-life insurance remains motor vehicle liability insurance, with a premium of 1.256 billion kuna, or 1.5 percent higher than in the first five months of last year.
The premium for mandatory insurance for owners or users of motor vehicles against automobile liability for damages caused to third parties also increased by 0.2 percent, to 1.24 billion kuna.
The average charged premium amounts to 1,531.42 kuna, which is 1.32 percent higher than in the same period last year, according to HUO data.
In the life insurance segment, the total gross premium charged in the first five months of this year amounts to 1.04 billion kuna, representing a growth of 6.5 percent year-on-year.
The largest share in life insurance is held by life insurance with a premium of 907.89 million kuna, which is 8.1 percent higher than last year, as stated among other things in the HUO announcement.
