How to Obtain a Pension After Working Abroad?

The Croatian Institute for Pension Insurance invites individuals who have worked abroad and meet the conditions for acquiring the right to a pension from Croatian insurance within the next five years to submit a Request for Determination of Insurance Periods Accrued Abroad at the regional offices of the Institute, according to their place of residence, in order to enable the fastest possible realization of their right to a Croatian pension.

The period confirmed by the foreign insurer in countries with which a social security agreement has been concluded is added to the period of insurance accrued in Croatia to meet the required insurance period for acquiring the right to a pension from Croatian insurance.

Future retirees are also invited to notify the Institute of their intention to retire on old-age or early old-age pension six months before submitting their pension application (which can be submitted no earlier than two months before the termination of insurance) and to initiate the so-called pre-completion of data process to more quickly realize their right when they submit their pension application. The notification is submitted to the relevant regional office of the Croatian Institute for Pension Insurance.
