Today We March in the Name of All Families

The organizers of Zagreb Pride stated this morning that with today’s pride parade of LGBT individuals, they want to show that they march in the name of all families, resisting any division and discrimination, humiliation, and attack.

– In recent weeks, we have repeated that this is a country for all of us. Today, in the pride parade, we want to demonstrate this by all of us together – lesbians, gays, transgender, intersex, bisexual, and queer individuals, side by side with our straight parents, grandparents, friends, and companions – marching in the name of all families – they emphasize in the statement.

They state that with the parade under the slogan ‘This is a country for all of us’, they want to resist any division and discrimination, humiliation, and attack, and show that Zagreb Pride is not against anyone, ‘not even against those who despise and hate us and who would like to reduce us to second-class citizens’.

– This is a country for all of us and this parade is for all of us – whether we are gay or straight, lesbians or singles, single parents or married couples undergoing artificial insemination, for men with vaginas, for women who want to divorce fairly and simply, for those who write in Cyrillic and for those who use Latin script, for traditional families and for those who do not wish to be. Zagreb Pride never excludes anyone and will not, because we are simply people to each other – they convey from Zagreb Pride.

They inform the government that they do not agree to anything less than the recognition of the full human and family dignity of LGBT individuals, freedom, and protection of their families and children. They emphasize that they have always fought and will continue to fight, if necessary, for the next ten years, for full marital and family equality for all lesbian and gay couples.

– We tell you once again: we are already families, we already have children and we will have them, regardless of how we are labeled or whether you want to accept this life truth or not – they state in the announcement.

They convey to the public that they must not give up on their demands and allow hatred to become a family value. – History will remember the brave fighters for justice, and it will shame those who are now fighting against justice. Their children, their grandchildren, and all who know them will be ashamed of them, because those who destroy other people’s families have no future – they emphasize at Zagreb Pride.

The beginning of their gathering is announced today at 2 PM at the Square of Victims of Fascism, and between 3 and 4 PM, the parade will move through the city center: Račkoga Street–Square of Croatian Giants–Jurišićeva–Ban Jelačić Square–Ilica–Gundulićeva–Varšavska–Petar Preradović Street–Teslina–Nikola Šubić Zrinski Square (Zrinjevac Park).

Short stops are planned along the parade route and addresses to citizens with messages of this year’s Zagreb Pride, and the public gathering ‘This is a country for all of us’ will be held at Zrinjevac, led by actress Nataša Janjić Lokas.
