The Workers’ Union of HZMO announced today that it will organize a one-day strike at the Zagreb regional office of the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute on Friday, June 14, and called on retirees and other citizens not to come to the regional office tomorrow.
We call on retirees, workers, and others not to use the services of our offices in Tvrtkova, Trpimirova, and Žajina streets on Friday. The strike is a ‘nightmare’ for us as well, and we did not want to organize it, but we have no other option as we are discriminated against compared to all other employees in public and state services, emphasized the union president Višnja Stanišić at a press conference.
HZMO workers are protesting because only they in the public and state service system have had their seniority bonuses of 4, 8, and 10 percent abolished, and for this reason, they are demanding the resignations of the Minister of Labor and Pension System Miranda Mrsić and the director of HZMO Srećko Vuković.
The average net salary at HZMO currently amounts to 5,135 kuna, which is 13 percent lower than the national average, but most employees receive a salary of around 4,150 kuna, claims the union.
We demand that the seniority bonuses of 4, 8, and 10 percent be reinstated in the collective agreement; otherwise, after tomorrow’s warning strike, we will continue with strikes every month in HZMO’s regional offices, threatened Stanišić.
Tomorrow, one of the seven counters will operate at the central office in Tvrtkova street, while 80 percent of the 690 employees in Zagreb who voted for the strike in the referendum will be on strike, announced Stanišić.
