The German engineering giant Siemens plans to eliminate another thousand jobs in its energy division over the next few years, reported the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) in its Tuesday edition.
In the initial phase, the company will cut 340 jobs at its energy solutions facilities in Erlangen and Offenbach, FAZ writes.

In the next phase, the company will eliminate another 650 jobs at the same locations while simultaneously opening new ones in South Korea to strengthen its position in Asia.
Siemens was not immediately available for comment. Already in December, the conglomerate announced the elimination of 1,100 jobs in the energy division in its home country of Germany.
Their goal is to save six billion euros in costs by 2014.
