Minister of Agriculture Tihomir Jakovina reiterated during his visit to Vukovar that by May 15, 2.2 billion kuna in support had been paid to farmers, and he did not wish to comment on the statements of certain representatives of peasant associations who criticized him for meeting with agricultural product buyers, to which representatives of farmers were not present.
-Wasting energy on every statement from someone who is a self-proclaimed or appointed peasant leader would be irresponsible. What is current is what we are doing in terms of reforms, from market regulation, support systems, land reform, and more – said Jakovina.
Commenting on the incentives for next year, Jakovina stated that they are known and that the maximum envelope of incentives in Croatia for direct payments amounts to 373 million euros per year and that is not in question.
Minister Jakovina also reflected on this year’s payment of incentives and emphasized that he would “like to ask the eternal critics when 2.2 billion kuna in support was paid by May 15 and when the support was received in full by June 30,” which, as he said, the Ministry will realize this year.
“When they received everything in full by June 30 except when they traded with former ministers,” concluded Jakovina.
When asked what the reference exchange for agricultural products for Croatia will be, the Minister of Agriculture emphasized that movements on all exchanges should be monitored, especially those in the Croatian environment.
