RWE Croatia, a subsidiary of the German RWE Group, has completed the acquisition of the company Energija 2 Sustavi and has become its 100% owner, thereby entering the Croatian energy supply market.
The company will operate under the brand RWE Energy, and will offer electricity to all economic entities, including households. As reported by members of the Management Board of RWE Croatia at a press conference, consumers in Croatia can expect competitive prices, reliability and security of supply, as well as service simplicity.
– From now on, we are the first choice for a second supplier in Croatia. We offer secure supply and benefits in supply that are already provided to 16 million of our customers in Europe. We have long-term experience in the liberalization of energy markets in new EU member states, and with this acquisition, we confirm long-term cooperation with Croatia – emphasized Karl Kraus, CEO of RWE Croatia, adding that the acquisition of Energija 2 Sustavi fits into their strategy of organic growth in new markets.
All customers, including households, will for the first time truly be able to choose their supplier, highlighted Miroslav Kulla, COO of RWE Croatia, adding that they will present their offer in the coming weeks.
– For now, we can only say with certainty that, in the long run, prices will be lower than they are today – said Kulla, noting that customers must be aware of the possibility of changing suppliers, which is very simple.
You are always able to offer better and cheaper prices with your own production than by purchasing energy on the exchange, added Zoran Miliša, director of Energija 2 Sustavi, who remains in that position.
– Croatia covers about 30 percent of its energy needs through imports, and RWE comes to us as a huge producer that can deliver energy at any moment. RWE has 60 GW of installed capacity in Europe, and with that amount, we want to substitute imports – explained Miliša, emphasizing that the biggest problem – security of supply – has been resolved through the partnership with RWE.
Energija 2 Sustavi has achieved successful growth since its inception in 2012 and has become the fastest-growing electricity supplier company serving 500 customers; from institutions, cities, schools, and at prices lower by one to ten percent compared to HEP prices. Last year, it achieved a turnover of 14 million kuna, and according to Miliša, this year they expect even better results. They also expect greater market share growth. The current market share is 0.5 percent, and in the next three years, they plan to achieve a share of 10 percent.
