The unions announced at a press conference that the strike will begin on Wednesday, June 5, starting first in high schools, and they announce that the state graduation exam will be halted.
After that, on Thursday, the unions claim that higher education and primary education will join the strike, along with the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute and other union members in ministries and other state institutions, as reported by Dnevnik.hr.
On Friday, it was stated at the press conference that nurses will also join the strike. However, it is still unknown when customs officers, who have not yet conducted a referendum among their membership, will join the strike.
Minister Mirando Mrsić stated that, although mediation has failed even in the third round, there will be no system blockade. He says that the government will ensure the normal functioning of the system, does not expect border blockades, and states that the graduation exam will be completed by the end.
He claims that the government has agreed to include in the agreement with the unions a provision that will return to state and public services what was taken from them when GDP growth is such that funds can be secured for that, but he emphasized that he wants the government to sign this agreement with all unions of state and public services, not just these 11. The minister claims that representatives of the 11 unions continue to refuse this.
He also called all unions of public and state services to further negotiations and signing of the proposed agreement at 2 PM.
