Failed mediation between the unions and the Government, strike begins on Wednesday

Representatives of the Government and eleven unions of public and state services did not reach an agreement in today’s final round of negotiations in the mediation process.

The unions announced a press conference at 1 PM and a strike on Wednesday.

– The main stumbling block is that we demand no permanent reduction of rights, while the Government wants to permanently reduce people’s rights. This is at the heart of all the empty stories we hear from Minister Mrsić – stated the president of the Croatian Trade Union Confederation, Vilim Ribić.

The president of the Independent Union of Employees in Secondary Schools of Croatia, Branimir Mihalinec, announced a major strike. ‘They will strike for days, until their demands are met, even if it takes the whole summer,’ he said.
