Their salaries are 124 percent higher than the national average

The average monthly net salary paid per employee in legal entities in Croatia for March this year amounted to 5,516 kuna, which is nominally 0.3 percent higher compared to the same month last year, while it is real 3.3 percent lower, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS) reported today.

Thus, in March, the real decline in average net salaries paid in Croatia continued on an annual basis for the 13th consecutive month. Namely, according to earlier data from the DZS, net salaries have been continuously falling on an annual basis since March last year.

On a monthly basis, compared to February of this year, the average net salary paid for March nominally increased by 1.3 percent, and real by 1 percent.

The highest average net salary for March was paid in the telecommunications sector and amounted to 12,353 kuna, which is 6,837 kuna or 124 percent higher than the national average for the third month of this year.

The average net salary paid for March in advertising and market research was 10,467 kuna, while the average net salary in air transport was 9,627 kuna, and in the information and communication sector 9,045 kuna.

Significantly above the national average for March were also the average net salaries in financial services, excluding insurance and pension funds (8,940 kuna), scientific research and development (8,620 kuna), extraction of oil and gas (8,346 kuna), computing (8,255 kuna), pharmaceutical industry (8,155 kuna), etc.

At the same time, the lowest average net salary for March was paid in the clothing manufacturing sector and amounted to only 2,809 kuna, or almost half of the national average.

Slightly higher, at 2,859 kuna, was the average net salary of employees in leather and related products manufacturing, while the average salary of employees in protective and investigative services was 2,988 kuna.

Following with low averages are employees in building management and maintenance as well as landscaping (3,110 kuna), wood industry (3,282 kuna), textile manufacturing (3,341 kuna), in administrative and support service activities (3,477 kuna), etc.

Data published by the DZS also show that the average monthly gross salary per employee in legal entities for March amounted to 7,986 kuna, which is nominally 1.6 percent higher compared to February, and real 1.3 percent higher.

On an annual basis, compared to March last year, the average gross salary for March this year nominally increased by 0.3 percent, but real decreased by 3.2 percent.
